I ran back to grab Andrew, and we were soon watching this large jay busily going about its routine of collecting food and flying off (presumably to a nearby nest). It did not take long before we had a family group of Tufted Jays right by the side of the road (KM 216) and an uncommon Gray-collared Becard at the same spot.

On a recent family trip to Jones Beach, on New York’s Long Island, I had the opportunity to observe a small flock of gulls bathing, resting, and preening in some shallow brackish water that had collected behind the beach. For both the Classic and Finch feeders, all you need to do to fill them is twist off the top and pour seed (that’s the Finch feeder with the top off in the photo on the right). I am very tempted to add the Plus feeder to my collection. At least, feeder birds.
