New treaty established to protect marine biodiversity, conservation of the high seas

For the first time, United Nations (UN) members have agreed on a unified treaty to protect biodiversity in the high seas. The Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) treaty was agreed upon at the 5th Intergovernmental Conference in New York, after two decades of international discussion.

Beljarica Backwaters are finally protected!!

Since August 23rd 2022 it has been considered a part of the newly protected Foreland of the Left Bank of the Danube Reserve. The initiative to protect this area was launched in 2010. And in August 2022, Beljarica and the wider Danube Backwaters finally became officially protected. I am glad it is finally protected.
