A close-up view of this week’s beer label, revealing the tell-tale, yellow-tipped bill of this black-capped, white tern. Tamarind ( Tamarindus indica ) is a real odd duck of a fruit: it grows on a tree belonging to the family Fabaceae , making it a relative of peas, beans, and legumes.

They packed up in June of 2013 and headed south from San Diego with the southern tip of South America as their destination. Sixteen species within the antbird family (Thamnophidae) are considered true obligate army ant followers. A bite from an army ant can really pack a punch; I speak from experience.
