I also felt slightly mocked by the fact that the species is so regular on passage here that people don’t even report it in the rarities groups (since I very obviously showed my excitement when someone at the observatory mentioned they saw a wryneck on the beach). We did see Eurasian Skylark , in addition to Horned Lark , as well though.

The group comprised of two colourful and one drab bird, presumably two males and a female, and the males were easily identified as Garganeys , the coolest dabblers of the planet. During the early 1990s, rumours surrounding the occurrence of a few Egyptian Geese in far north-western Germany emerged, the result of an increasing and spreading Dutch feral population. I recently saw and photographed what appears to be a Baikal Wagtail ( Motacilla alba-or-not baicalensis ) in Germany. The second group has two odd forms with a limited distribution, namely yarrellii of the British isles and sub-personata from Morocco. So it may turn out to be a bit of a big deal.
