When I say they target the nest, what I really mean is that they target the present occupiers and rightful owners of the nest. The bird pictured below seems to have rufous on its rump, but this is merely the well-documented rusty cinnamon or fulvous edging on the uppertail coverts of a Piratic Flycatcher.

Fortunately, the varietals that make up The Pundit are more well documented. The Pundit is aged in blends of French and American oak for thirteen months, emerging a dark, almost inky, blood red that flashes garnet in the right light. I can’t say whether one of these species is more prone to punditry than the other.

Solitary, naturally sparse, and stealthy, these deadly mini-stalkers are rarely seen and can catch and escape with a tanager right under your birding nose (once, while birding with 10 people, I was the only person who saw one fly off with a tanager). An adult Tiny Hawk from another day and place.

The three huge eagles are lottery winner rare and the Orange-breasted Falcon has never been documented for the country but the rest are seen here and there on an annual basis. The first record of the Eurasian Hoopoe in Australia was well documented in 2011. The Garganey continued to inhabit the area right through to the end of 2018. A good example of a bird that came and then left unobserved was the Eurasian Hoopoe in 2014. We moved forward slowly and the Garganey continued to feed in the fading light.
