True, most of our migrant breeding birds start to return in April, but in May even the late arrivals – Turtle Doves, Swifts, Spotted Flycatchers and Nightjars – finally appear. Sadly, though I have seen all four this year, I haven’t managed to find an English Spotted Flycatcher nor Turtle Dove. A Kerkini Turtle Dove.

Meet Tim; he’s a baby Olive Ridley Turtle. On this one morning when I first met Tim, I counted 110 Olive Ridley Turtle nests exploding out and scuttling for the “saftey” of the ocean. Oh, look at all those parallel lines running down the beach, those are all baby turtle tracks as far as the eye can see!

Pied Oystercatcher breeding area-July to October Pied Oystercatcher sitting on eggs-July We are now at the time of year when Flatback Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs along our coastline and they usually do it during the night around high tide. So, our beach nesting has changed from birds nesting to turtles nesting!

Every year on our camping trip to Crystal lake Montana we go catching turtles because it’s just a really fun family tradition, normally one of my cousins would bring nail polish and we mark our initials on the shell so we can know if we catch the same ones years after.

Since 2006 a pair of Bald Eagles ( Haliaeetus leucocephalus ) nesting at Turtle Bay in Redding California have successfully raised a dozen eaglets! This year when the pair returned to Turtle Bay, they decided to build a new nest in an adjacent tree.

We have a real love of turtles, so it is always great to hear of people helping care for them. Recently the SeaWorld Orlando animal rescue team received two hawksbill turtle hatchlings that were about two months old. This turtle was covered with algae and fauna, as seen in the photo.

Turtle Doves have been declining in Europe since the 1970s, and in this century alone, the continent has lost 40% of its population of the species. Ten years ago, those flocks were reduced to a few hundred birds.

It was a video of him throwing a already bleeding turtle into a massive bonfire and letting the poor thing burn. I guess video was taken a few days ago but I just saw it. It’s one of my neighbors and someone I go to school with. I’m thinking about reporting this but I don’t know how or who to go to. Please help. This is really disturbing.

SeaWorld aquarist Jenny Albert covers up a “cold stunned” endangered green turtle to keep the animal warm at SeaWorld’s Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. This influx of turtles gives the park’s Sea Turtle Rescue Program more than 1,000 turtles rescued since its inception in 1980. The SeaWorld team does great work!

Normally there is four-wheel drive access along a section of Cable Beach, but the Shire in recent years acknowledged that the flatback turtles needed help to survive. Originally the beach access was closed for a few hours each side of the biggest tides and then four-wheel drives would hopefully not drive or park on nest sites.

Was walking today and saw a turtle. The turtle didn't speed up or go the opposite direction, it just kept slowly crawling, getting right up close to the bird, who didn't even seem to pay it any mind as it passed. I walked up to it but it of course, moved away from me.

A Flatback Turtle was just returning to the sea after spending most of the night nesting above the high tide mark. This is the first record of a Flatback Turtle nesting on Cable Beach this season and the nest will hatch out in due course without the large female Flatback Turtle returning to shore. The boardwalk itself brought amazing, up-close viewing of fish and turtles, plus overhanging sweet gum, live oak, and bald cypress trees. He excitedly ran across the wooden boardwalk as I heard Carolina Chickadees, Carolina Wrens , and a Barred Owl hooting.
