Other species I can recognize are colloquially called crocodile bark tree, due to the bark pattern, and paper bark. For you and me, there are about 200 bird species, but for proper tourists, there seem to be only five species in the reserve: Bengal Tiger , Leopard , Sloth Bear , Indian Wild Dog (Dhole) and the Gaur.

Yes, I did mean to use all caps because if you don’t… Birds like European Starlings will be all over that like ugly on a pig. Both are non-native species in Minnesota and drive out native flickers, bluebirds and other cavity nesters to take over to raise their own young. Clearly, the patch job didn’t work.

Syngenta warns that “Talon” is “hazardous to dogs, cats, pigs, poultry and other wildlife.” Like Syngenta’s “Talon,” “Jaguar”s active ingredient is brodifacoum, which has killed mountain lions, bobcats, and house cats, plus all of the species mentioned above. Motomco also makes “Jaguar” and “Tomcat,” complete with cat icons, of course.

We lose a handful of species, mostly waders flying across the whole Pacific but also a cuckoo flying just half of it. The more rural shoot pigs, deer and ducks. There is some speculation that they do fine on the island but don’t last long off the island, which would be a bad thing for a species as prone to wandering as this one.

The Juni Rail is considered by some to be a sub-species of the wide-spread Black Rail seems. Llamas and wild guinea pigs are also found here. Our trip to Botswana produced some great owl species besides the reclusive phantom, including some of the smallest and some of the largest owls in Africa. We heard the diminutive African Scops Owl at various locations at night, its frog-like call punctuating the dark hours of the African bush.

The problem with that statement is it's not as if farmers are searching "the wild" for cows, pigs, chicken and fish, plucking them from their homes, and plopping them on a farm to live out their (shortened) lives prior to slaughter. I do not pass judgment on other species, whose motives I cannot comprehend. Besides, we have choices.

Camooweal may be a small outback town, but it has numerous bird species to enchant you before you head either 190 kilometres/118 miles east towards Mt Isa or 470 kilometres/292 miles west to Tennant Creek.

There was evidence of the mussels that would be a source of food for many species in the receding water line. There was also evidence of the damage that feral pigs can do all along the trail and along the water’s edge and we soon came across a small group of them. Feral pigs. In the parking area I immediately encountered a pair of Australian Brush-turkeys as well as a new species for me, a Grey-headed Robin. This huge member of the Australian robin family is really tame in this carpark, making it probably the easiest place n the world to see the species (other than the Tableland it is only found in New Guinea).
