Interestingly, a bird of prey set off a psychological experiment. Wait a minute, it’s very light on the back, almost like a Booted Eagle. And then something strange happened… For some reason, my focus continued on the back feathers and the pattern, and the obvious harrier showed more and more characteristics of the eagle.

The area is one of the most important in Greece for birds, comprising more than 270 species. Finally, of the at least 20 species of mammals present here, the otter, the jackal, and the wildcat certainly deserve a mention. Large lagoons farther east are at their best in winter, but I should mention one more bird. Now, I am done.

During a two-year long moratorium on hunting in T&T, I had some of the most incredible birding experiences. As the national bird of Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, the African Fish Eagle is usually very busy whenever it stays in these countries, giving speeches, opening shopping centers, etc. The Latin species name vermiculatus (worm-like) refers to the markings on the upperparts. Of course, the second explanation makes a lot more sense.

Northern Emerald Toucanets in Costa Rica are sometimes considered a separate species known as the Blue-throated Toucanet. Yellow-thighed Finch , one of several common species in the forests of Coronado. . These would be birds like the aforementioned quetzal, Black and white Becard , various Furnarids, and Ornate Hawk-Eagle.

In fact, this is probably a species that has substantially expanded its original range through the pet shop route and the resulting escapees. In fact, it seems to be one of the species employed by past ornithologists to establish their own monument in the shape of a subspecies. A challenge for young birders, maybe.

The first stop of the morning: young White–tailed Eagle , right next to the road and several dozen Rooks around. I observed this species in the Little Rann of Kutch in India and since then, have been burning with desire to see them back home. And the citizens of Kikinda are justly proud of it. Our trip to Botswana produced some great owl species besides the reclusive phantom, including some of the smallest and some of the largest owls in Africa. Whilst African Fish-eagles are the daytime predators of all things watery, Pel’s Fishing Owls fulfill this niche at night. What a beauty! What a place.
