I have been a wild bird rehabilitator for 25 years. I have received countless numbers of wild birds mangled and/or killed by outdoor/feral cats, such as the Orange-crowned Warbler pictured here. I look at these birds, and am enraged by how cruel and callous human beings can be. Is it the fault of the cats?

I am so sick of the feral cat colonies that infest so many locations that I like to bird. Mr Kerridge says it is a misconception that cats kill a huge number of birds. Birds are a long way down a cat’s food chain so well-fed cats tend not to hunt at all, he says. Feral cats kill huge numbers of birds.
