There are two Painted Bunting populations, one that breeds along the Atlantic Coast from North Carolina to Florida and one that breeds in the interior United States and northern Mexico from southeastern New Mexico to western Mississippi. The Atlantic Coast population lingers on the breeding grounds after nesting to molt.

One of the most impressive birds in North America is the Golden Eagle. Golden Eagles have a global breeding population of around 300,000 birds, 3% of which spend at least part of the year in Mexico. The Green-winged Teal ( Anas crecca carolinensis ) is North America’s smallest dabbling duck and taken by hunters second only to the Mallard. The parents moved them from their breeding territory as soon as they could fly, which makes sense because you don’t want them to eat all of the food that you will need to survive until the next breeding season. Once the tide dropped they moved forward as a family and wandered along the exposed sand looking for food.

Some uncountable species, like Mitred Parakeets , are in fact way more numerous than some of the countable species and they are clearly breeding in well-established populations.
