According to an article in the Guardian , “nearly a quarter of black swan families are parented by homosexual couples, the males sometimes mating with a female simply to have a chick. It seems they kept a pheasant as a pet for the chick. No wonder species definitions are so problematic. I thought I needed to mention this.

In the southwestern of Western Australia (not where these photos were taken), the Little Corella actually is an introduced bird species listed as a category 3 declared pest ( source ). Seeing Red-browed Finch in the wild instinctively makes me look for an exploded pet shop nearby. But of course, these are wild birds.

Where I live, there are two species of lemmings, the Brown Lemming ( Lemmus trimucronatus ) and the Collared Lemming ( Dicrostonyx groenlandicus ).
