Since August 23rd 2022 it has been considered a part of the newly protected Foreland of the Left Bank of the Danube Reserve. sq km / 7.2

Beljarica Backwaters: Some good news announced (but not yet official)

My readers are already familiar with Beljarica Backwaters, as described in half a dozen posts here at 10,000 Birds. It all started well three decades ago, when I intensively birded the Danube Backwaters by kayak. mi2 of the Danube Backwaters in 2014 (cover photo). mi at its widest point and some 9 km2 / 3.5 Fingers crossed.
