Definitively the Egyptians!

Neighbouring (FYRO) Macedonia nowadays has about 20 pairs, while two decades ago they had 135! And so, I was driving from Greece to Serbia… in central Macedonia, two birds were circling not far from the motorway… black and white (above)… perhaps White Storks on migration? Reasons for this situation are numerous.

The series of birding workshops and meetings continued across the map, through Ulcinj, Montenegro, then Samobor, Croatia and Stip (described here ), North Macedonia, leading to Brussels, the unofficial capital of EU. He couldn’t understand. Neither can I.

Serbia – birding overview of a year in the Central Balkans

Interestingly, while they have not yet been recorded in Serbia in the breeding season, Masked Shrike , Olive-tree Warbler and Sardinian Warbler were seen breeding just south of the border, in North Macedonia, and it is likely that some pairs might choose localities further north. Autumn migration August to October , 266 eBirded species.
