Thought experiment

Reddit Animals

Although I love dogs they're too dependent on humans, it's true that stray/feral dogs can form packs and survive in the wild a regular dog like a golden retriever would get eaten by a lion instantly. Cats would be the next. From the ones that have a good chance to survive.

Birding Sepilok, Borneo (Part 2)

10,000 Birds

My cats refuse to even try Fiery Minivets. Young Thrushes

10,000 Birds

The scolding alarm call of the Spectacled Thrush for example is something that I grew extremely tired of – the birds would sit on our window and glare at our indoor cat and yell (what I presume to be some form of obscene insult) at him. This gave us several chances to experience them at various stages of growth. Wise creatures.

A True Mouse Anecdote -- does anyone have a similar story?

Note that neither dogs nor cats have hands, but both mice and rats do. I have always been interested in mice. Point taken.

On Cat Killers and Mental Competency

Animal Person

People in South Florida are still in an uproar over the mutilation and slaughter of 19 house cats (allegedly) by 18-year old Tyler Weinman, who was declared mentally competent and not a danger to himself or others (!). Weinman had participated in cat dissection in school, and that is being discussed as a possible trigger for his behavior.
