Rabbit Meadows is a rescue group out of Seattle. As the name suggests, they rescue rabbits, but they also rescue other small animals like ferrets, and other small rodents. Over 1,000 rescued rabbits have roamed the 4.5 who feel comfortable enough to return to Rabbit Meadows each year to raise their young.

Juliet and Foxy, a Terrier mix and a Chow Chow/Cocker Spaniel mix, are my rescues. We also never raised our voice at either of them, and always let them sniff us thoroughly before we handled them.

As we passed by a small body of water a couple of Apolinar’s Wrens ( Cistothorus apolinari ) skittered in between the stalks of grass and one of them even sort of displayed on top of a small plant with its tail raised high up.

Sarah Atlas is a search-and-rescue dog handler, one of many civilian volunteers who serve with New Jersey Task Force 1. In a soft release, you let the bird you’ve raised go but continue to provide food until they choose to be independent.) Even though I hand raised her from a baby, she was very wild so this was no easy task. I put her in a cage, gave her Metacam for pain, and administered herbal Rescue Remedy to calm her down.

A recent arrival at the Nairobi nursery was an elephant named Murka, rescued near Tsavo National Park with a spear lodged deep between her eyes and gaping spear and axe wounds along her back and sides. The spear had penetrated ten inches, rupturing her sinuses, which prevented her from using her trunk to drink.
