I love sparrows, so seeing a feather-worn Vesper Sparrow this past July filled my heart with joy. We saw sparrows–a total of 14 species–and we saw many other great prairie birds, and we often saw them perched on posts. Baird’s Sparrow was one of those elusive creatures.

Thanks mostly to David Lindo, The Urban Birder, there are a few British bird groups touring the country every year now, even the BBC came to film the world famous Long-eared Owl gathering in the town of Kikinda with more than 700 birds in some winters. In some years, Spanish Sparrows were reported breeding inside White Storks nests in Sakule.

This diversity allows for a nice group of doves to both live full time, as well as support a migratory population traveling down from the cold northern part of the US. It is possible that the dense growth allows for great protection and nesting areas. I guess they like the area as much as I do!
