It was more than 50 years before I was to see another lynx, not in the Doñana, but in the Sierra Morena mountains to the north, which is now the best place to see these handsome cats in the wild. After securing our passage, I patiently waited for this once-in-a-lifetime experience to a place we have never been and lacked any knowledge of, we were in for a complete surprise. My cats refuse to even try Fiery Minivets. While my cats like the taste of the Greater Racket-tailed Drongo , they tend to look fairly ridiculous eating them, as the racket tail sticks out of their mouth. I agree that they look toxic, particularly the females. Even the scientific species name is igneus , identical to the English name.

While we were making our way down the mountain we saw a large all black cat cross the road from right to left we immediately slowed down to a stop to get a good look. The cat was about 3 cars length in distance away when we saw him cross the road so there was no mistaking (him/her) for a different animal.

People in South Florida are still in an uproar over the mutilation and slaughter of 19 house cats (allegedly) by 18-year old Tyler Weinman, who was declared mentally competent and not a danger to himself or others (!). Weinman had participated in cat dissection in school, and that is being discussed as a possible trigger for his behavior.
