So, I spent a lot of time birding this month, and to keep this post at a manageable length, it mostly only covers the first half of May. I understand there are still people out there who deny human-induced climate change. So when there is no Lake Cuitzeo on which to winter, where do all these birds go? There were plenty of other birds in the area, with 72 species around the reservoir for the day. A Belted Kingfisher joined the ranks of the drought refugees.
