Marchesi Biscardo – Corvina della Provincia di Verona (2017)

10,000 Birds

Even the United States Forest Service got in on the act with this image that was apparently created as educational material for children (though I don’t envision any crows or ravens supplanting Smokey Bear in the marketing department for that agency). The outfit specializes in wines produced from indigenous Italian grape varieties.

All those references to “lime trees” in Jane Austen (and Nick Cave)? They mean sweet-flowered linden, not the tree that bears the citrus fruit. Knowing that a particular street is lined with oaks can let you anticipate a fall influx of screaming Blue Jays livening up the landscape.

The locals call it “cold” When you get used to living in warm Costa Rica, it can be tempting to follow suit and refer to 50 temperature fall weather as “cold” But the mark left by the memories of the north’s freezing grip are too fierce to be forgotten.
