Black-faced Cuckoo-shrikes

It appears as if they just need to lie their wings correctly to be comfortable and it is never quite right when they first land. Here are some Brown Honeyeaters enjoying the water in 2014 and Zebra Finch in 2012 at this location. They have one very distinct feature when they land, which is that they shuffle their wings.

Birding Tanjung Aru Beach, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

10,000 Birds

As the rice paddies near Kota Kinabalu described in an earlier post , Tanjung Aru beach is not really a major birding spot in its own right. Come@Me: Invasive Species Can Be Awesome

Birds of San Juan De La Costa

The topography looks like it is right out of an early John Wayne movie. Zebra-tailed Lizards, Splotch-sided Lizards, Orange-bellied Skinks and Desert Iguanas are quite common in this area, so the American Kestrels were too. After you pass the mine, things change quite a bit.
