We were then able to walk down Upper Thomson Road and get public transport back to our hotel. We had not been expecting to see a Banded Woodpecker and there we had one right in front of us. We could then continue through the park and cross Upper Thomson Road and enter Lower Peirce Reservoir Park and do the trails there.

Part of the world they wanted to transport was natural. One such individual was Sir George Grey, who liberated many animals on his estate (mercifully on an island), including wildebeest, monkeys, zebras, wallabies, deer, cassowaries, emu and kookaburras. There were no mammals, little game, and not many birds either.

Taxi v SMRT – The SMRT is the excellent, clean, safe, reliable, cheap transport system of Singapore. The path along the right (east) bank of the river leads along a cycle path with Asian Koels , Yellow-vented Bulbuls , Laced Woodpeckers and Oriental Magpie Robins all likely. You may also find familiar faces.
