Hello everyone!! My crested gecko has a vet appointment July 8th, that is the soonest they could get her in. This is due to me living in an area exotic vets ate uncommon due to the low demand of them. I have a part time job, and my checks are usually about 400$ every two weeks. I live 30 minutes from my work so usually spend about half of that on gas there and back home.

I left my previous article asking what of the Yellow-legged gulls that had alerted me to the presence of migrating vultures over Gibraltar? Yellow-legged Gulls Larus michahellis breed on the Rock of Gibraltar and the late spring arrival of Griffon Vultures Gyps fulvus coincides with the time that the gulls have chicks on their nests. Gulls are aggressive in the defence of their young and they don’t like big raptors getting close.

Originating from the word “Rapon” which translates to Black-bellied Whistling Duck in the Makushi language, the Rupununi River flows north and then east, where it then joins the mighty Essequibo River that flows northward through the rest of Guyana, ultimately meeting its end at the country’s (only) Atlantic coast. During the rainy season the Rupununi River shares a watershed with the Amazon and is connected to several other water courses via flooded plains.

I hereby confess that last week I failed to write a post, although I should do so each week. In my defense, I spent my Thursday morning “deadline” three hours away from my home, in the eastern Michoacán town of Zitácuaro. I was participating as a speaker and guide in the Third Bird Festival of Michoacán. The festival lasted three days, Wednesday through Friday.

It’s a reservoir, not a natural lake, and was formed by damming the Striminos river, which flows into Greece from neighboring Bulgaria (unfortunately bringing with it huge amounts of plastic rubbish, creating problems for the National Park.

Hi everyone -- there is a stray cat in my neighborhood that often dwells around my house. Today she let me pet her and pick her up but she accidently scratched me. the scratches are very light and barely broke the skin, however are a bit red. She has never looked sick or anything so I am not too worried about rabies. She did have one wound on her shoulder and was balding a bit. should i be concerned?

i love going on walks and observing/taking pictures of the insects I find along the way, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a magnifier or tool of some kind I could carry with me! I don't really capture bugs, just watch them where they are and move along. I've been thinking I could get a loupe or a pocket microscope, but I'm not sure what magnification or model would be best!

Least night I saw this bird just standing on my lawn ended when my dog was there and it just wasn't doing anything. I thought it might be dead but it was standing so I was confused. Hello. Where I live there are a lot of stray cats and I saw a few of them gathered in a place on my walk this evening. There was also the sound of a crow, and I was curious because they don’t usually make sounds in the evening. I walked there and saw the cats gathered closely around a crow. The crow clearly couldn’t fly or run away, it was hurt. I realized the other crow was yelling to protect the sick one.

For the past two years my dog will lick the floor aggressively. She then paces quickly around the door and whines to be let out. After we go outside, she eats grass as if she’s never eaten anything in her life and either poops, throws up, or just ends up being fine. I have spent a lot of money on vet appointments for them to do blood panels, check stool, etc.

I have a dog and he's my best friend, he's my first pet ever so things are new. Anyhow he's three I did get him when he was a puppy so it's been quite some time since I've had him. Recently I've been having negative thoughts about his passing, I see posts and such of people dealing with animal grief and I feel for them. Lately I've been crying and not just tearing up.

Genuinely curious why animals are scared of some people more than others. Wild animals aren't really afraid of me at all. I notice this all the time where they just go about their business as if I'm not even there. Heck even deer standing just 6 feet away from me just stare for a moment then walk away. Birds too will come up right next to me looking for food when I'm sitting down.

So I have a 5 year old Arabian Mau and I recently adopted an abandoned 2 year old Turkish mix. I have separated them as my 5 year old hissed at the 2 year old and I’ve put them each in one half of the apartment. The thing is, they talk to each other very rarely behind the door and I haven’t found a way to show them to each other other than putting one in a carrier or having the door very very slightly opened.

Good morning ! I'm (F 23) curently staying at my boyfriend (M 24)’s place who has a roommate (F 34), who has a cat (she has had this cat since she was weaned). It should be noted that personally, I have always had cats since my childhood with very sociable and kind characters and that this is her first cat. Also, I am French and she is Pakistani.

I apologize for my poor English. I have a 9 month old female Labradoodle named Luna, and she's been sick for the past 3 days. She has diarrhea and throws up, and she barely eats or drinks anything (she loves food so this worries me a lot). Even though I live in a big city in Denmark, it's Sunday, and my options are very limited for what I can do for her.

I just came across a post about a specific cat breed where a lot of people were talking about their cats experiencing sudden death and cardiac problems at a very early age. The same happens with certain dog breeds that are known to have severe health problems. I'm not looking to blame anyone for their choices nor am I guilt tripping anyone. I feel deeply sorry for anyone who's dealing with an ill pet or in the process of grieving.

So we live in the country and we recently found 6 baby raccoons. We woke up this morning and all but two raccoons were gone (assuming the mom took them). If the mom doesn’t come back for them tonight how long will they survive? And what can I do to help them if they don’t come back? If anyone knows anything about this please help!
