However, I'm not sure which animals could survive an extinction like that and what group of animals should be dominant next. What do you think?

The mountain dynamic has killed people; quite a few in past times when folks who were dressed and adapted to warmer temperatures tried to hike over the tall mountains and became lost or were caught unawares and unprepared for a hypothermic night. Recently, a group of nature photographers were spotted using live fish to bait a family of Grey-headed Fish Eagles in Singapore, where the species is listed as Critically Endangered, with only about 12-18 breeding individuals left in the wild. A Grey-headed Fish Eagle photographed ethically. Doing so, however, presented a few problems.

The small group was a good counterpart to the large, convivial ABA Safari group of 98 birders. That’s a lot, and the organizers of the safari did an excellent job of creating an environment that offered small group birding during the day and a birders party every night. So, the best way to find a leopard is to find the kill.

Last year, two Serbian ornithologists were guiding a group of French birders and, prior to their return to the airport, the guides phoned me to enquire how to reach Beljarica – they had dipped the White-tailed Eagle! Portuguese environmental groups - including SOS Lynx, A Nossa Terra and Almargem - have denounced the deliberate shooting of the country's only nesting male Iberian Imperial Eagle. I come from a Portuguese family and I have no problem dumping on the Portuguese. This makes me angry. It has nothing to do with poverty, just stupidity.

Longer story shorter (which I wrote about here ), I found it and was startled to find out that the Ravens ( Corvus corax ) had not only chased it, but they had caught it, killed it, and were in the process of eating the adult King Eider ( Somateria spectabilis ) when I came along. The day before it was an Arctic Hare they saw killed an eaten.
