Creepers in the Forest

Not all the birds, of course, but many of the distinctive and conspicuous species. Yes, you read that correctly – it was seemingly reversing the laws of gravity. Very soon, the other members of this unique family were on my radar. T&T has five recorded species of woodcreeper, all resident. I was blown away.

Not enough Woodpeckers

Called home to the Oregon Coast to operate the family motel, in her free time she leads Tufted Puffin walks and escapes to guide at birding festivals and explore the world as often as possible. Scissor-tailed Kites – while not threatened now – are a vulnerable species. Habitat degradation is a huge possible threat to the species.

It’s a fun game for New World birders to find equivalents to many of the Old World bird families that we are unfamiliar with, but there is no equivalent to turacos. Talking Starlings

This particular species is not native to New Zealand (similar to its status in North America). In areas where starlings are introduced, the laws for keeping them as pets are relaxed. A European Starling in New Zealand made the news this week. The woman in the video found it as a chick at a few days old and hand reared it.
