The King Shag has a small population breeding on four protected islands in the Sounds and a small number regularly roost on on Blumine Island (and have even been nesting recently, perhaps successfully), and sure enough they were there and we were able to admire them. The birds are now breeding in the area, but are quite happy to keep coming to the daily feeding station in groups of over 100 birds. I finally caught this one in the Alexander Skutch Bird Sanctuary. While visiting the Kakadu National Park, I was able to photograph this Rainbow Bee eater right after it had caught a dragonfly.

She lives at Indigo Hill, an 80-acre wildlife sanctuary in Appalachian Ohio with her husband, Bill Thompson III, their children Phoebe and Liam, and their Boston terrier, Chet Baker.
