I’m Birding in the Rain, Just Birding in the Rain

On Tuesday my closest birding buddies, and, of late, my regular companions, wanted to go down to Paso Ancho. This did not seem like a problem to me, because a bit of rain really seems to bring out the birds in such a dry habitat. And indeed, it did rain just enough to keep us consistently wet, but we were too pendejo to seek shelter.

A kestrel in the rain

By Martin Garwood Martin has been interested in birds from an early age and has traveled extensively in pursuit of different species. But then again, it seemed such a shame to be driving past a really excellent bird reserve on my way home from working nearby, and not paying it a visit, however brief. It was a male Kestrel.

Bloody Bay Birding

The bay itself is fairly large and sheltered from the elements, and one of the larger rivers draining the Main Ridge Forest Reserve empties into the bay on the northern end. Specifically birds. The most interesting bird we saw that morning was one that my wife pointed out as a Tricolored Heron but I felt it was a Little Blue Heron.
