The mountain dynamic has killed people; quite a few in past times when folks who were dressed and adapted to warmer temperatures tried to hike over the tall mountains and became lost or were caught unawares and unprepared for a hypothermic night. These smart looking birds are tropical sparrows. Blue-vented Hummingbird was one of them.

I birded Uganda, which was my first time on the continent of Africa. Such travel brings a lot of birds and the 863 species I saw this year is the most species I have ever seen.

One of the primary reasons that these hawks make such excellent falconry birds is because they are one of only two raptor species (the other is the Galapagos Hawk ) that hunt cooperatively.
