There are black bears in the back country but sightings are apparently really rare, which is good, because I'm quite afraid of bears. It was from a distance at first so I thought it might be someone's dog, but as it got closer, I realized it was a bear before I could even see it.

Described in the “Territoriality and aggression” chapter, this is a sublime example of behaviour from the “Understanding Animal Behaviour” by Rory Putman, an Emeritus Chair in Behavioural and Environmental Biology at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. At some stage, a salmon-hunting bear at a shingle beach came too close, mere 9 steps.

One Nilgai – the largest of Asian antelopes and a few Sambar deer later, we hit a jackpot: there is one jackal-like animal sitting among the dry leaves! Well, one reason might be – this animal is not only endangered, but even rarer than the Tiger! We are observing a Dhole , also called Asiatic or Indian Wild Dog.

A declawed, defanged bear is chained to a stake as hunting dogs bark and snap, trying to force the bear to stand on its hind legs. The training exercise called bear baying is intended to make the bears easier to shoot in the wild and it's only allowed in South Carolina. From the AP. State law on the issue is murky.

If you put some animals (both wild and domestic) on an island and left them there to roam free and we come back after a few years who would survive. In my opinion dogs would be the first to go. Would suprisngly rodents and small animals. The ones who would last until the very end would be lions , tigers bears, eagles and wolves.

While tracking brown bears in Greece some time ago, B. stood in a heraldic bear pose, on his hind legs, clawing the air and rrrroaring in his best Bearish. With hand signs, the Greek villager showed one large and two small bears nearby, that much I understood. After a drink, they went to see the bears.
