I have observed this species many times (my eBird says 28 times this year alone) and never had one landing near me. Personally, I wasn’t happy, but I do not live there and do not have a septic tank in my backyard, so I felt that I have no right to complain against something that would obviously improve the lives of local inhabitants.

Large and round-headed, smartly-striped, with a gentle gaze of mysterious black eyes, in the European south of its range this species chooses preserved mountain forests, preferably mixed deciduous and conifers. The bird tolerated us for perhaps a dozen seconds before it majestically took off. Fortunately, B. Absolutely thrilled!

In the morning, still sleepy, we enter the jungle, where a sounder of Indian Boars (a long-maned subspecies Sus scrofa cristatus ) is watching us, standing among the first trees, right next to the road. Birds included common species such as Black Drongos , Jungle Babblers and a Hoopoe. It is too early to show.

The next day we tried mist netting the cave entrance, and the day after I abandoned the project entirely. But I can say that I have seen, in one shape or another, these three species.

However, no problem there because any pangs of loss or longing to lay eyes on a MEGA bird is quickly assuaged by glassing good birds, and that’s pretty easy to accomplish in Costa Rica, especially at El Tapir. Tapirs do occur on the trails at El Tapir but cool hummingbirds are more likely.

A month ago I visited this site, right at the edge of Belgrade for the first time, only to discover that I cannot get into the overgrown area in my low-clearance city car. Over a few obstacles, we follow the dirt track into an abandoned and overgrown claypit. Yet, Starlings cannot dig and are happy to use abandoned cavities.

At this moment, Baihualing is the eBird hotspot in China which has by far the largest number of species – 486. With 398 species, Nanhui is trailing far behind despite being covered by a much larger number of checklists (2225 compared to 608). Two of these birds are relatively easy to see at Baihualing. In total, there are eight species of hornbills in Borneo – the best place to see them seems to be the Kinabatagan River area (also known as Sukau). Another item they feed on is hunting edible bird nest swiftlets, which are quite common in edible swiftlet houses in Sabah, Malaysia ( source ).

Old Halls Creek as a town-site was abandoned by 1954 and everybody had moved to the new site of Halls Creek where an airfield had been built in 1948. People still head to Halls Creek in search of gold and it is possible to obtain a Miner’s Right to do just that for $25. Track around the perimeter of the Halls Creek Poo Ponds.

They are clinging birds and use the technique on branches and tree trunks. Chickadees, woodpeckers, titmice (like the bird above) and nuthatches are considered “clinging type birds&# and can easily hang upside-down to get access to food. Basically, this species is so dimwitted, it doesn’t know how to survive. Because, Pink Pigeons are not capable of doing the tasks required to create and bring up children of the species. A bit of background: Pink Pigeons are medium-sized, pink/gray/ brown birds found on the island of Mauritius, Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar.
