These breeding colonies included other species of flamingos, but it was only the Andean Flamingo that appeared to have been the most affected, if indeed the egg extraction was one of the causes that led to the Andean Flamingo’s population decline. I didn’t know what species of woodpecker it was, but I knew it was just in the clearing on the other side of the road.
