During our visit, one was sleeping high in a tree right next to the parking area. Costa Rica is situated right between two oceans. The pair of seas are close enough for the occasional adventurous frigatebird to just soar way up and right over to the other salty basin. This area specifically is renowned for Tucuman Parrots, Yellow-collared Mackaws, Green-cheeked Parakeet, White-throated Antpitta, Creamed-back Woodpecker, Blue-capped Puffleg and Slender-tailed Woodstar, White-bellied Hummingbird , and others. Day Two: On the second day, I got off to an early start at Ecclesdown Road in the northeast corner of the island, flushing a Crested Quail-Dove right near the beginning.
