My family visited San Diego every year as part of a Disneyland-SoCal Road trip to escape the rainy Christmases at home near Portland, Oregon.

Birding (and drinking mezcal) in Oaxaca, Mexico

Called home to the Oregon Coast to operate the family motel, in her free time she leads Tufted Puffin walks and escapes to guide at birding festivals and explore the world as often as possible. The first we went to was a family home with generations of mezcaleros and the process being completed in their front courtyard.

The Warbler Brewery – Warbler Ale

Besides the few warblers depicted in the mix of songbirds featured on Safe Flight IPA by the Kings County Brewers Collective we sampled in October 2019, I think this is only the second time we’ve seen a warbler here at Birds and Booze, a surprising situation given how popular this family is with North American birders.

It also appears that at least one early radiation from North America into the Caribbean resulted in several relatively old island lineages, which the authors treat as four families, Nesospingidae, Spindalidae, Calyptophilidae, and Phaenicophilidae.
