The 1,500 km route included a great diversity of habitat types, elevations along the west and east facing slopes of the Andes, jaw dropping landscapes, contrasting microclimates, cultural diversity and a potential list of well over 1,000 species. They breed after rain events and this was exactly the situation once again. The dam was very full and there were numerous species of birds present.
