Red-cockaded Woodpecker. It also meant Red-cockaded Woodpeckers could be nearby. Red-cockaded Woodpeckers are rare. This was my second time on the recreation area specifically looking for the woodpecker, and it looked like another bust. We walked some of the trails at the reserve, and I had spotted a large bird hovering in mid-air, almost like a helicopter, just with more flapping.
