My only guess is that it's an organ of some kind (hopefully animal and not human?) As far as I know none of my neighbors are in the black market for organs. At first I thought it was a pile of poop, but when I poked it with a stick it was gelatinous. I found it on the ground a few feet from the base of a pine tree.
