Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve: the Tiger Afternoon

Rarer than Tigers: the Indian Wild Dog

This was only my fourth encounter with the species (all on the east side). He should have visited my home last month, when both species were visiting my birdbath almost daily. Although, truth be told, this species does seem to be a rarity in Tabasco.) It was by far my best (and longest) view of this species.

After his description the species was not spotted in Cape May for one hundred years, though this was likely due to a lack of effort and reporting because the bird is an uncommon but regular visitor there. But why allow the location where the bird was first described be forever memorialized in the name of such a charismatic species?
