It’s now on the official quarry list on the island.

Birding Hongbenghe, Yunnan (Part 1)

Given that according to the HBW, the species prefers dense primary and secondary montane forests, the note that the bird also forages among kitchen waste (in the same HBW entry) seems somewhat incongruous. Fish & Wildlife Service has a web page for this species – but it contains absolutely no information.

Birding at a Historic Sporting Estate

During cold winters, the hunters retreated to the south, intent on quail and other game species. Red-bellied Woodpeckers and Eastern Bluebirds rounded out the species near the pond, but in the distance I noted a Red-tailed Hawk , as well as the regular calls of a Northern Bobwhite.

Nyala, Southern Africa’s Stunning Antelope
