Not at all, they are very right to protest, and I have no issue with the farmers – we all share the same enemy, our own President. There are no traces of the mist any more, the sun is finally out. Now we were in Finca Tres Equis, a family cocoa farm (if I understood well, it translates as Triple X Farm) and a private reserve of over 300 hectares, of which more than 70 percent is a forest, representing part of a Jaguar corridor. At least one Boat-billed Heron awaited us in the thickets. A group (maybe 4-5 ex.)

Several diving ducks were ticked into an open patch of water right near the shore. If this sounds like a pretty pedestrian outing farther north, than you’re probably right. There’s a lot of water here, and the birds tend to be spread out over acres of farm ponds and reservoirs. A shame, too.

The house is on a working farm, in the far back end of a large mountain valley and tremendous. In addition to the Violet Saberwing , just as we were leaveing the lodge, this Scintillant Hummingbird landed right next to the door way. This Black-cheeked Woodpecker was shot right off the upper patio off our room.

Week 21: Our last week in Scotland

The boat Captain got us right in close. The Bellymac Farm turned out to be the location that the birds choose to gather in. When were visiting Smoo cave, this one was right in the cave entrance. I gave up on visiting the cave, and just watched this bird washing, preening and then jumping right in, and catch this small flat fish.
