Despite depicting 540 species/56 families, it is a lightweight book of 173 pages, easy to pack and carry. Most mammal guides aimed at wildlife watchers (and not scientists) tend to cover small and cryptic species as a group only, not going to a species level. It also covers Andaman, Nicobar and Laccadive islands. Highly recommended.

This past January, however, my experience was even better. And when two of those eyes are professionally trained for wildlife monitoring, that is certainly a big plus. It was here I managed to finally find my Brown Hyaena, making that family the first family of mammals of which I have seen every species (Spotted, Brown, Striped Hyaenas and Aardwolf)).
