So I've been thinking alot lately

I love spiders, I've owned many snakes as pets, my favorite mammal is arguably the Opposum (I think they're so cute, whereas here in the south people hate them and dont understand their importance), bats, frogs, all animals really. My question here is all I really have on paper is chemical experience.

Bucket Mouth, Chuck-will’s-widow

But hands-on bird experience has been a major gap in my knowledge to date and I’m astounded at how much more I’m discovering about birds. The massive eyes are really evident in the hand Chuck -will’s-widows feed predominantly on insects but they have been known to prey on birds and even bats too, swallowing these whole.

Birding in a Hellmouth

There were opportunities to go to far flung places like the islands of the Pacific or the coast of Canada or the Yorkshire Dales… Anyway, as I was obsessed by Africa at the time, I leapt at the opportunity to go to Namibia to collect samples of bat DNA for a biogeography project. I think we caught perhaps three bats.

In Defense of Bad Photos

But previous experience with Ejido Triquillo taught me that another species might turn up during the spring. Of course, I can’t bat a thousand on the bad photo rankings. The next three photos aren’t bad; they’re just garden-variety bird pics. But they helped me to pick up a very nice catch for the day.

Birding Adventure in Mexico Part II: Durango Highway

This is where Gila Woodpecker and Yellow-breasted Chat meet Squirrel Cuckoo , Bat Falcon , and Black-throated Magpie-Jay. As the sun began to set, a flock of Mexican Parrotlets alighted in a tree with brilliant red bark, and we all noticed a Bat Falcon watching silently from a high perch above all the action down below.
