The Brown Fish Owl is the most common of all Fish Owls. Much to my surprise, he could, all within an hour`s drive of my hotel in Delhi (which after all is a contender for the most populous city in the world, similar to Shanghai, where I live). Its ear tufts seem to be almost horizontal rather than vertical.

This was only my second time ever to observe this subspecies (the first time was here as well), two other subspecies I have observed in India. Fish will lose their spawning ground, otters and White-tailed Eagles will be no more. They may have been disturbed by the presence of hunters in the Danube backwaters.
