During our recent California trip, I enjoyed some excellent birding. I also developed my latest manifestation of a series of skin infections that I have experienced over the past year, this one worse than all its predecessors. (Not a sugar problem, in case anyone thought of that; my fasting sugar levels are perfectly healthy.) Believe me, Staphylococcus aurea is not the kind of species I would choose to write about on 10,000 Birds.

For some reason I remember hearing about this spider I heard it eats big animals. It's a large spider that has a little secondary spider or other type of animal that's attached to its sense of tracking and hunting other animals. I heard it will go after anything that kills the little spider or eats it just to retrieve it's body. Foreign animals surviving in other climates

In The Last of Us video game, there are two scenes where they show exotic animals surviving in the North American climate. The monkeys made sense; many species of apes and monkeys are adaptable to many climates and are similar to humans in terms of anatomy. The giraffes did not. I remember reading that giraffes can’t live in areas where it goes below 50 degrees F (10 degrees C), yet they’re in Salt Lake City, Utah.
