My only wolf sightings have been in Spain, in December, and at great range. A Suffolk Otter swimming in the Little Ouse river Not all Otter s want to be photographed But this one emerged, though only briefly The otter is, of course, a member of the weasel family. Why not the stoat family or the badger family?)

Just had my lifer Cinereous Vulture this morning

Stopping for a large cappuccino at a drive-in McDonalds en route, soon I entered a hamlet of a dozen family homes mixed with a dozen small apartment buildings. It is a former floodplain with arable fields intersected by numerous canals. Basically, for Operation Vulture I need a tractor. It has never visited these parts of Serbia before.

Azure-winged Magpies

The Azure-winged Magpie is a pretty member of the crow family found in Eastern Asia, from Siberia and Japan down to Hong Kong. Unlike other magpies I’ve seen, this one lives in family groups, and like other corvids, are conversational and fun to watch. Was it natural, or were the birds in Spain an introduced population.

The addition of a family of Least Grebes was a nice touch. Which brings me up to the title for this post.
