The Plain Sunbird is the plain vanilla version of the otherwise often very colorful family (ok, a very low-budget sort of joke). One paper suggests that the Ruby-cheeked Sunbird primarily feeds on insects rather than on nectar, the more common food of sunbirds. It deserves a lot better than being caught and locked in a cage.

I strongly suspect that the rate of attrition on this Loon family is inversely proportionate to the abundance of ducklings in the bay. The tend to stay asea, bobbing and rolling in the surf, staying away form shore and presumably eating small fish. But now there is some research on that. Ducks are easier prey for the Eagle.
