The 850 hectares / 2,000 acres farm turned into a private reserve is reachable by ordinary cars but once inside, there is a hundred metres / 300 ft drive through a river. The only difference in the next 8 days will be an earlier wakeup call, at 4.20, but coming from Europe and suffering from jet lag, it wasn’t as bad as it sounds.

I’m fairly sure the only family I’m missing in Europe is the Wallcreeper (Tichodromadidae), assuming you don’t lump it with the nuthatches. Sometimes you gain armchair big ticks, like the White-tailed Blue-flycatcher I saw in Uganda in 2005 which later turned out to be in the Stenostiridae, a recently erected family.
