San Francisco Considers Banning Pet Sales

Critter News

All companion animals including dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, and lizards would be considered as pets. Pet sales would be banned altogether, except for the sale of pet fish. If it passes, San Francisco residents would have to go to a shelter or rescue group to adopt an animal. Sounds good, but I just don't believe this will pass. It would set a national precedent, even if it is San Francisco.

The finest pizza and cookies graced the Alley Pond Environmental Center, and under the watchful eyes of a pair of inexplicable chinchillas some of the most storied birders in Queens rattled off their sightings. 10,000 Birds

This is a protected area that includes the Los Cusingos Bird refuge, where we were guided by Andres Chinchilla, a young man who as a child ran around the farm where his family worked, and was to become this incredible bird refuge. Our trip to Costa Rica has come to an end, and sadly, it ended with one of the best weeks of birding in the entire year. We spent to bulk of the week in the San Isidro El General area, staying there as well as up in the Quizarra area.

The Little Big Year-week 46: All this fun comes to an end

10,000 Birds

Andres Chinchilla – Guide at Alexander Skutch Bird Sanctuary, Costa Rica. We have arrived at the end of our little adventure, which has come to be known as “The Little Big Year”. It ended with little fan fare; in fact I did not even go chasing birds on the last two days of 2018, as I am just plain tired. Not of the birds, but the seemingly endless early mornings, rarely sleeping in my own bed, and the pressure, mostly self imposed, to find yet one more bird.
