If you find a young hawk or eagle out of the nest and it is covered in down and is unable to stand on its huge feet, it needs to get back in the nest. Owls are a little different. In fact, the very first person to guess, Nick , managed to get the third quiz picture correct by calling it a Bald Eagle. Of course, that was the easiest of the three because though the bird in the image is captive, a bird that was injured and can’t be returned to the wild, Bald Eagles do occur regularly and naturally in Queens.

Eastern Screech-Owl – There are many just outside of Queens in Nassau County. Say’s Phoebe – A self-found rarity at Edgemere while accompanied by my family made my day back on 05 October 2014. Likely a Tropical Screech-Owl , but nothing definitive. A Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl that was fervently vocalizing however, was the first for the list.
