The ginuea pig cages are small with very little toys same with the rat cages. They also sometimes house rats and Guinea pigs alone wich will cause depression. Hamsters also need to be housed alone and need around 3ft of space. The reptile care is horrible with the humidity levels being too low and they house chameleons together.

This week it emerged that the island is important for another rare New Zealand bird, the critically endangered New Zealand Petrel. Little Barrier had rats at one point, so it may have re-colonised, or may be still recovering from the rats. The species was lost for over a hundred years before being rediscovered in 2003.

The Sanetti Plateau in Ethiopia is a one of Africa’s greatest birding locations. High above the great Rift Valley, endless treeless plains stretch out as far as you can see, holding birding (and other wildlife treasures).
