Magpie Geese breed near Broome once again

This year we have had high numbers of Magpie Geese once again in the Broome area and this last weekend we observed our first family groups for the season. We continue to bird-watch from the bitumen and rain continues to fall across the north of Australia.

15 Australian Birds (Episode 5)

According to Wikipedia, the national bird of Australia is the Emu – which I have not seen yet. On the other hand, some websites state that the Laughing Kookaburra is Australia’s national symbol. It was among the first birds to be scientifically described in Australia.

Week 23: The advenure continues, Stateside

We were able to find a very nice RV park, just a couple of miles from one of my all time favourite birding hotspots, Billy Frank Jr, Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. Today, I saw a handful of Mallards , two Common Mergansers, and a Wood Duck Family. Australia species – 242. eBird Checklists – 237.
