This was very close to an access trail for the beach and it was continuously spooked back up onto the post by beach-goers and dog-walkers. I can recommend an owl shoot to anyone with a bad back. This years bird number 1300, the Whiskered Screech Owl, was found in the dark, in a snow storm, and no photo was gotten. Wandering the Sydney Australia Botanical Gardens, there were a large number of birds that could have made this list, like the Powerful Owl, but this photo of Little Wattlebird is one of my favorites from the area.

Just keep an eye out for the Barred Owl perched on a Mini Cooper and that is where you will find him. The open area (“dog park”) filled with both exotic and native trees on the west side of Old Cutler Road has many dead Royal Palm stumps riddled with cavities dug out by busy woodpeckers ( Red-bellied and Pileated ).
